CITY POLICE COURT
Saturday, May II (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Disorderly Conduct Walter Francis Williams, aged 19, and Alfred George Smith,, aged 20 were charged with behaving in a disorderly manner in Crawford street on Friday night.—Sergejnt Johnston stated that the two men had interrupted a private dance in a hall in Crawford street and, after refusing to leave, they were ejected and the police were summoned. Bad language had been used in the street. —Williams stated that he did not think that any bad language ha 1 been used.—Each man was fined £2 and costs (10s). (Before Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M.) Breach of Probation Edward Farris, for whom Mr C. J. L, White appeared, was charged that, being a person convicted of theft at Cromwell on February 14 and admitted to probation, he committed a breach of the terms of his probationary licence. —Mr White said that the accused was st present serving a sentence on other charges, and it had been found that this matter had not been cleaned up.—Farris was sentenced on the original charge to one month's imprisonment, with hard labour, the sentence to be served at the end of his present term.
