SHIP’S FIREMAN CONVICTED SIX MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON. Mar. 23. Six months’ gaol was imposed by the magistrate (Mr J. H. Luxford) on Joseph McCarthy, aged 47. a ship’s fireman, who was found by night on premises without lawful excuse and in possession of house-breaking implements. He was convicted and discharged on a charge of the theft of £2 from a ship’s till. It was stated that the accused was arrested for drunkenness and detonators were found on him.
