Relaxation of Meat Rationing Further relaxation of the meat rationing is the subject of a statement issued on Friday by the British Ministry of Food. The statement deals also with the doubling of the butter ration as from to-day. From to-morrow onwards sausages, sausage meat, meat pasties, meat pastes, meat puddings, all other manufactured meat products, whatever their meat content, will be sold free of the ration. Furthermore, the isssue of extra meat rations to diabetic patients is now formally authorised. ‘ ■ Easter Traffic in Britain The Easter holidays in Britain began with a great exodus from the cities to the country • and seaside almost similar to peacetime traffic. All the main line railways genet-ally equalled the normal Easter figures, and in some cases exceeded them. The usual crowds of holidaymakers were augmented by large numbers of men on leave from the forces and relatives visiting evacuated children. It is believed that 12 Germans taken from the Asama Mam are among the total. \ Red Cross Fund The Red j3ross Fund conducted by the Lord Mliyor of London rose last week by £20,000. It now stands at £1,241,500. Butter Ration Increase Legal provision has been made in • Britain for an increase inthe butter ( ration to-day to eight ounces a week, for domestic users and to one-thifdf; I of an ounce per meal served in catering establishments.
