COLONIAL EMPIRES
CO-OPERATION BY ALLIES IMPORTANCE OF DECISION (British Official Wireless) v /- RUGBY, Mar. 23. (Received Mar. 24, at: 8 p.m.) Welcoming the recent visit of the Secretary for Colonies (Mr Malcolm MacDonald) to Paris, the Economist says: ... .“It is excellent news. Permanent liailson offices will be (.established in the two capitals to promote intercolonial co-operation. _Liittle by little all spheres of the political and economic life of the two great empires are being brought into contact, and the closer this co-operation grows, the more secure becomes the certainty of victory in the war, and peaceful collaboration in that victory. , “ The colonial sphere, embracing the lives and interests. of some 120,000,000 colonial citizens, is obviously of extreme importance. It is especially encouraging to learn, that the contact which is being established between the two capitals is to be repeated throughout the colonial empires by collaboration between local administrative officials. French and British policy; intelligently coordinated, could profit immeasurably by the new ideas and new angles of approach to which such an association would give rise.”
