The croquet tournament at dra was opened bn Friday morning in . typical Central Otago There; was brilliant sunshine and no wind. t Mrs Lloyd Williams, president, welcomed the visiting players, who came . from all over the South Island, -the Bawling Club had again lent its greens, and Mrs Williams said that, with seven lawns available, and just ■ a slightly smaller entry than last year, they hiped to be finished by Wednesday. Mr W. Bodkin, M.P.. and the Mayor (Mr W. Bringans) welcomed the visitors to the town, and wished them a happy holiday in the district. Mrs G. A. Nelson* president of the Otago Croquet Association, conveyed the association’s best wishes to the Alexandra Club, and said it was a com- , 5 . pliment to the club that they staged such ah attractive tourney that visitors ' from near and far were always happy - to return year after year.
