NATIONAL REVENUE

THE ESTIMATES EXCEEDED (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Mar. 20. With still another fortnight's receipts to come, the national revenue has now passed the level at which Sir John Simon aimed in the war Budget. The receipts amount to £1,000,875,000, as against an estimate for the full year of £993,180,000. This result is mainly due to the expansion of Customs receipts, which are £11,870,000 above the estimate. The total ordinary expenditure to date exceeded the revenue by £205,668,149. In addition to this sum, £477,249,000 has been spent in the Defence Loans Act.
