WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

The Green Island Institute met on Tuesday last, Mrs Robinson presiding. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mrs Robinson; secretary, Mrs Barclay; vice-presidents—Miss Walker, sen..'and Mrs Bell, jun.; treasurer. Mrs Mason; press correspondent. Miss Kirkland; pianist, Mrs Edmond; competitions convener, Mrs Moore. The hostesses were Mesdames P. Smellic, Baird, Mehalski. Stevenson, Moore and Robinson.

The annual meeting of the Tahakopa Institute took place on March 12. The motto was, " Good, better, best, never let it rest till your good be better and your better best." and the roll call, '• A pickle recipe." The election of office-bearers resulted: —President, Mrs J. Stoddart; vice-presidents, Mrs C. Birss and Mrs R. Anglem; committee, Mesdames R. Harrington. P. Stott, E. A. Brown (with power to add more members at next meeting). Mrs C. Birss gave a short presidential address. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs L. Galbraith for her work in connection with the annual report.

The executive of the North Otago Federation held its usual monthly meeting at Oamaru on March 8, Mrs Mays presiding over a full attendance of members. The appeal for parcel: on behalf of "our boys" at the front has been well responded to. At. the annual meeting (to be held in April) there will be a collection of antiques on display. The hostesses were Mcsdamcs Fiilford and Familton.
