GENERAL EASING NOTICED POOR QUALITY FAT SHEEP (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 13. With one or two exceptions, values showed an easing in all classes at the Addington market to-day. Fat lambs sold at export rates, but fat sheep receded sharply for the lighter sorts to export parity. The best of the fat cattle about maintained prices, but the bulk of the yarding was easier. All subsidiary sections were easier except fat pigs, which maintained recent values. There was little attractive in the store sheep entry, which was made up mostly of local offerings. Moderate lots of two-* tooth ewes ranged from 19s to 2ls 6d, and the older sorts brought 16s to 17s. The spring lamb entry of about 1000 head showed a progressive easing, which, at the end amounted to about Is fd a head. The sale finished with values about B£d a lb for prime medium and lightweight sorts, with heavy lambs at 7id a lb. Freezing buyers bought sparingly up to Bid a lb for 361 b lambs. The quality in the fat sheep section was the poorest of the season, a big proportion being little better than stares. The market was the first since the export works opened, and values fell for export ewes, which were down by about 3s on last week. Export schedule rates are:—For ewes. 3Jd per lb for up to 641 b; and for wethers, s|d to the came weight. Prime heavy wethers made from 29s to 345, prime medium wethers brought from 24s 6d to 27s 6d. and ordinary wethers from 20s to 245. Prime heavy ewes made to 255, tops to 28s lOd, ordinary from 14s to 17s, and light from 9s to 13s. The quality in the fat cattle section was indifferent, and there was an easing for all classes of up to 10s to 20s a head for all sorts except prime steers. Cows were harder to sell, and the market was overloaded with them. Prime heavy steers made to £lB ss, tops to £2O. ordinary to £l3 10s, and light to £9 10s. Prime heifers made to £l3 15s, medium to £lO ss, and light to £8 10s. Prime cows made to £l2. medium to £9 ss. and light to £7 15s. ' , The fat pig entry was smaller, and, although the sale began with an mprovement, values eased finally to last week’s parity. Prices for choppers were 10s a head better. Choppers brought 43s 6d to £6 8s 6d, light porkers to 39 b 6d. and heavy porkers to 56s 6d, Ught baconers were from £2 17s 6a to 7s 6d„ and heavy to £4 6s 6d. The average price per lb for porkers was 6Jd to 7d, and for baconers 6Jd to 63d.
