Colt by Nightly The yearling colt by Nightly from Acrelinore, purchased by Mr K. Austin at Trentham for Mr J. J.Listom chairman of the Williamstown Racing Club Melbourne, was recently sent across to his owner, and from advices received, he has created a good impression in Melbourne Worth Remembering Baran was not disgraced by his defeat at the hands of Friesland at Wqodville. Friesland had been off the winning list for some time, but he is a good horse when right, and in addition Baran s preparation had been interrupted by a minor mishap Waiicouaiti and Oamaru Nominations In the Waiicouaiti and Oamaru nominations published yesterday morning, the name of Doctor Ena appears in several races, whereas the correct name should have been Gusterina, who has been nominated in the Heigh-weight Handicap and Hawkesbury Hack Handicap for Waiicouaiti and High-weight Handicap and Waitaki Hack Handicap for Oamaru Queen Ruth should have read Queen Beth in the Bray Memorial Handicap, and Hanlon was omitted from the Orbell Handicap for Waikouaitl, and Rebel Queen was omitted from the Waitaki Hack Handicap and Lady Constant from the Farewell Handicap for Oamaru. j TROTTING NOTES By Sentinel FIXTURES December 16.—Tlmaru T.C. AUCKLAND RACES RICCARTON TEAM (Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. 13. More than 80 horses drawn from Riccarton stables will be racing in different parts o' the Dominion during the holidays. The first trek will start to-night, when the eight horses due to race at the Auckland meeting will take their departturc H. ana A. Cutts had plans for three of the Clifford horses going north, but Wnd Talk developed lameness on the eve of departure, and she will need a spell It is unfortunate, as, on her form at Riccarton last month, she looked certain to pay her way. Paper Slipper is in great order, but I am afraid he has passed his best. Great Swoop is .a good hack urospect. He has been galloping well, and he is capable of better form than he showed at Rlccarton last month. T. H Gillett has the two-year-old Doria as one of his pair. She is one of the season's best juveniles, and she will add interest to the Foal Stakes, a race her dam, Princess Doreen, won. Spartan, a candidate for seme of the important races over middle distances, should pay his way. He has always been a good galloper, and his prospects have been improved since he dropped the habit of tearing away to the front at the- start of his races. P. V. Mason’s pair of three-year-olds are both maidens Stylist showed a bit of form last autumn. She has done nothing this season, but she has not had much racing while she has been galloping well lately. Omapo has besn taken quietly, with no racing till this season. He is above the average, and' he may be quite as good as was his brother Haerepo last season. Dictate is now trained by owner M. O’Brien, whose son will take the horse north. He has never looked better than he does now, and he should get some more money on this trip. It is worth recalling that he ran third in the Auckland Cup last year. F. D. Jones will have the three-year-old Moorsotis as his only tourist. Though he failed in Sydney in the early spring, he has done well since he returned home. Beaulivre and Beau Vite look too good in the Great Northern Derby, but third place in that event would be worth having, while the colt should pay his way in other events at Ellerslie. G. H. Withers has been preparing for a trip to Dunedin and Southland with two of his father’s horses, but the plans may have to be revised, as Rhodfim broke down on Tuesday morning, while The Sandwlchman was lame after his work.
