SOUTH AFRICAN FUND

CONTRIBUTION FOR BRITAIN JOHANNESBURG, Dec. 5. (Received Dec. 6, at 8 p.m.) The South African Mayors’ National Fund is sending £IOO,OOO to Britain as the union’s Christmas gift and as the first monetary contribution to the prosecution of the war. It is also sending 2,000,000 South African cigarettes as Christmas boxes for the British and French troops, after which it will send 1,000,000 a month. The fund, which has been contributed from all parts of the Union, totals £200,000.
