NORTH CHINA TROUPE

ENTERTAINING PERFORMANCE Not since Long Tack Sam and his band of talented Chinese entertainers visited Dunedin two or three years ago have local theatre-goers been offered such good fare in that particular line as is provided by the Great North China Troupe, which is at present enjoying a successful season at His Majesty's Theatre. The entertainment is a compound of European vaudeville turns and Chinese mystery, balancing, and acrobatics, the whole thing going with a swing that keeps the audience thoroughly amused and interested from start to finish. One of the more novel items is the appearance of Herbert Young, a nine-year-old boy who has been styled the Chinese Bobby Breen, and who lives up to his reputation by putting on a vocal turn that has been thoroughly enjoyed during the week It is in the display of juggling, balancing, etc., in which the Chinese seem to excel, however, that the greatest charm of the show lies for most of its patrons, and the whole performance is presented with a speed and enthusiasm which performers of European nationality seldom seem to achieve. Is is all thoroughly good entertainment, and everyone in the company does his or her best to contribute to the success that they have undoubtedly achieved. The performance will continue each night until Monday, with a matinee on Saturday. The box plans are at the D.I.C. and the Rialto.
