VILLAGE ANNIHILATED
DEVASTATING AVALANCHE DISASTER ANTICIPATED BY POPULATION MARTIGUY (Switzerland). Nov. 18. (Received Nov. 19, at 8 p.m.) An avalanche of mud and slopes from the 5000 ft slopes of Mount Chavalard covered the village of Martiguy to a depth of 45ft. The population of several hundred escaped when the rains started. A considerable number of livestock perished.
