•NEW AWARD ISSUED The industrial magistrate (Mr J. A. Gilmour) has issued a new award for the Green Island Iron Rolling Mills employees. The only matter in dispute related to the wages of the cutterlown and the cutter-down assistant, and this has been settled on the lines of the exoired award. The rate of pay for a cutter-down was fixed at Is 4d ner ton for steel and Is 7d for iron. That of the cutter-down’s assistant was fixed at Is 3d and Is 4id respectively. In other respects the award embodies the recommendations arrived at by the assessors in Conciliation Council. Wages have been made payable retrospectively by agreement of the parties
