OTAGO CLUB The third rounds of the competitions for the Intermediate Cup and the Balmacewen Cup were played on the Balmacewen links on Saturday. The “ollovving were the results: — Intermediate Cup: I. Carr beat S. L. Wilson 3 and 2, R. F. Barr won by default from M. W. Connors, A. R, Woods beat H. W. Bundle 3 and 1, D. M. Irvine beat A. E. McDougall 3 and 2 Balmacewen Cup; D. B. G. Paterson beat G. L. Ferguson 6 and 5, S, J. Macdonald beat J. H. Meek 2 and 1, H. H. Dobie beat W. W. Johnstone 3 and 2, N. V. Farrell beat R. Allan 3 and 1. BELLEKNOWES CLUB The Single Bogey Handicap played on the Belleknowes links on Saturday resulted in a win for W. Anderson, with a score of 4 up. F. W Kennedy, W. K. Wilkinson and H. V. Huntley tied for second place, on the count back, the latter winning. The best scores were as follows:—W. Anderson 4 up, F. W. Kennedy 3 up, W. K. Wilkinson 3 up, H. V. Huntley 3 up, J. F. Byers 2 up, N. R. Driver all square, W. S. Roberts 1 down, R. A. Penman 1 down, W. A. Race 1 down, W. H. Devlin 1 down, F. Hinton 1 down, L. R. Sceats 2 down, A. L. Mac Gibbon 2 down, S. J. McCausland 2 down. J. M. Somerville 2 down. The following are the results of the matches played in the first round of the Four-ball Knock-out Competition: W. H. Devlin and J. Somerville beat R. Hood and M. O’Sullivan 2 up, G. Bell and W. A. Race beat S. McCausland and W. Wilkinson 2 and 1, W. S. Roberts and L. R. Sceats beat N. R. Driver and A, Mac Gibbon 4 and 3, E. A. Lucas and R. M. Wilkinson beat C. Adamson and O. J. Cooke 3 and 2. J. McCausland and E. J. Olsen won by default from L. Bennet and R. B. Smith. ST. CLAIR CLUB The Four-ball Stableford Bogey Competition, which was played on the St. Clair links on Saturday afternoon, was won by N. W. Allen and C. C. Todd with 42+26—68 points, J. B. Deaker and J. A. Templeton, with 43+23—66 points, filled second place. To-day was a lucky one for Christchurch golfers. At Waitikiri J. A. Clements holed his tee shot at the eleventh (175yds). He was followed an hour later by L. Beauchamp, who holed out in one at the fourteenth (205 yards). Norman Tingey holed his tee shot at crossways, the short ninth at Shirley.
