RICCARTON NOTES
QUIET MORNING (Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. X. The weather was fine this morning at Rlccarton, though there was a strong north-west breeze. The outside of the trial grass track was open, but it was not in much request for fast work. Dictate hit out freely in a half-mile sprint, in preparation for a mile and a-quarter gallop to-morrow. Full Back (L Robinson) was sent over eight hurdles. He travelled at a sound pace and gave a very good display. He is a much Improved jumper. A large number of horses got through useful tasks, among them being the big contingent that arrived from the North Island yesterday. H. J. Callahan, a well-known lightweight rider, arrived from the north this morning. His only engagement for the first day. so far, is Hunting Cat in the New Zealand Cup. The starting barrier at the five furlong post was at the disposal of the trainers, a number of horses being given some education, followed by a quiet run down the straight.
