MOSGIEL DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Mosgiel District High School Committee held on Monday night was presided over by the Rev. E. P. Y. Simpson. The treasurer’s report was adopted, and it showed total receipts £lO7 7s and expenditure £lls 7s 2d. The Postmaster-general advised that a grant had been authorised to cover cost of work on new area.—Noted. A letter was read from the Public Works Department about the levelling of the new playing area. The plant at the North Taieri aerodrome was not available, but a suggestion was' made that a satisfactory job could be made with other plant at about £4O This work, however, could not be undertaken for one month.—lt was decided to apply to the Education Board for a two-thirds subsidy. The town clerk advised that the recreation ground would be available for cricket practice.—Received. The Young Men’s Christian Association wrote about use of the • gymnasium and equipment,—l( was decided to inform the association that if certain permanent equipment were installed the use of room w’ould be given free, as had been done with the Bov Scouts. The Otago and Southland Caretakers and Cleaners’-ln-Schools Association wrote about the dismissal of the school caretaker—The matter was discussed, and the secretary was instructed to reply in terms of the discussion. Tenders were dealt with for a sound system, and that of Mr E. Cooper was accepted on certain conditions. The rector reported that the final figures for the copper trail had totalled £125 6s.—lt was decided to send a letter of congratulations and thanks to the rector staff and pupils on the success of the effort. The chairman expressed thanks to the parents and business people for their co-operation
