OTAGO ASSOCIATION MEETING OF JUNIOR COMMITTEE Tiie annual meeting of the Junior Cricket Committee of the Otago Cricket Association was held on Thursday a representative attendance of club delegates being present. The chairman (Mr J. H. Don Miller) reviewed the work of the committee since its inception and the results it had been able to achieve. He stated that there was an urgent need for a greater recognition of junior cricket and its value to the future of the game. It must be realised, however, mat the war made the future uncertain, and suggestions made must only be tentative. , ■ . The following officers were elected:— President. Mr J. H. Don Miller; secretary, Mr R. McSkimming; Emergency Committee—Messrs Rayner (Cansbrook). Anderson (North-East Valley), Riach (St. Kilda); representative on Grade Committee 0.C.A., Mr A. Riach; representative of O.C.A. on Junior Committee, Mr T. Hughes. It was unanimously decided to write the O.C.A. making the following recommendations for their approval:— 1. That the Junior Selection Committee consist of a senior player and two members of the Junior Cricket Com2. That contact be made with minor associations in an endeavour to promote junior representative games. 3. That an Otago junior representative team be included in the Country Week tournament. It was decided to hold the next meeting on Tuesday. November 21. TO-DAY’S MATCHES The opening matches of the cricket season which was commenced last Saturday will be continued to-day. At Logan Park the match between Albion and Dunedin will be continued. Albion scored 268 in its first Innings and Dunedin has lost one wicket for 40. In the match between Kalkorai and Old Boys at Tonga Park, Kalkoral scored 141 and Old Boys have lost six for 134. Grange and Carisbrook A will continue their match alt Logan Park. Grange is in a strong position, having scored 274, and Carisbrook having lost three wickets for 12. In the match between University and Carisbrook B, University scored 241 in its first Innings, and Carisbrook B has lost two wickets for five runs. Matches will be commenced at 1.30 p.m. OLD BOYS v. KING’S HIGH SCHOOL LABOUR DAY MATCH An enjoyable game was played on Labour Day between a team from the Old Boys’ Club and the first eleven of the King’s High School. Each side hatted 12 men. In the first innings, King’s High School scorec 91 (Joel 40; Groves seven for 34). and in the second scored 67 runs for three wickets (Joel not out 41; Groves two for 46), Old Boys made 163 runs (Russell 48; Joel three for 35).
