OBITUARY

MR A. A. FOOKS (Per United Press Association) ASHBURTON, Oct. 23. The death has occurred of Mr Alfred Augustus Fooks. aged 81, Born at Christchurch, Mr Fooks was articled to Mr B. W. Mountfort, the designer of the Christchurch Cathedral. As a surveyor and secretary of local bodies he played a great part in the development of ihe county and was engineer to the County Council from 1924 to 1934 He was a successful athlete and an enthusiastic volunteer, serving in the South African war, He is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter.
