CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS (Per United Press Association; CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 23. The 220 Yards South Island professional championship was won by L. A. Bench at the Southbridge sports to-day The time was 23 3-ssec The North Canterbury three miles professional cycling championship was won by I. Sutherland in 7min 44sec. and the junior cycling championship of one mile by D. Doyle in 3min 2 4-ssec from a rolling start.
