MANCHESTER UNITY

There was a good attendance at the last meeting of Loyal Middlemarch Lodge. Shield conditions are being well maintained bv NG. Bro. J. Schnffer and his supportmg officers. The lodge has decided to pay an official visit to Loyal Maniototo Lodge on October 28. In answer to the fnvitation of Loyal Albion it was resolved that the lodge would be represented at the various functions in connection with the seventy-fifth anniversary celebrations. The first meeting to be held by Loya Centenary, in the Forbury School Hah was particularly well attended by members and visiting sisters and brethren representative of all city and suburban lodges, together with a party from Milton lodges. Formal business only was transacted. , * 41 All officers were in attendance at the meeting of Loyal Roxburgh Lodge last Thursday, with N.G. Bro. King in control. Final arrangements were made to visU the Loyal Caversham. P.P.G.M. Bro. T. P. Michelle gave a comprehensive report of the business transacted at the Baiclutha meeting,, and was supported by P.G. Bro Pearson. Visiting brethren in the persons of P.P.G.M. Bros. Geoff. Clark and H Russell were cordially welcomed by the N.G., and accorded the usual honours. Loyal Tuakepa Pioneer Lodge, Lawrence, opened its meeting last Tuesday tn mourning out of respect to the late Bro. John Blakie, of Waitahuna. Delegates to the district committee meeting gave a full resume of the business transacted. Arrangements are well in hand for the visit to Loyal Tapanui on October 26. The lecture master, P.P.G.M. Bro. A. Hart, will confer degrees upon eligible officers at the next meeting. A good attendance greeted N.B. Bro. Strachan at the meeting of Loyal Caversham Lodge. One new member was initiated. Invitations were received from Loyal Albion for its seventy-fifth anniversary celebrations, and from Loyal Valley for an " at home " evening. Arrangements were finalised for the reception of visiting brethren from Loyal Roxburgh. N.G. Bro. Taylor presided over the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Albion, the occasion being the reception of official visits from sister lodges. The meeting was voted the best of its kind held during the year. Oddfellows present were representative of Loyal Victoria, Princess Mary. Centenary, Valley. Milton, Caversham. Dunedin, and Hand and Heart Lodges, together with I.P.P.G.M Bro. Sellar, representing the district executive. Hopes for a speedy recovery were extended to Prov. D.G.M. Bro. H. Masters, at present in hospital. Three new members were initiated and a further nomination for membership received. An enjoyable programme of items contributed by Messrs Power and McKinlay, Bros. Finnic Wilson and Russell, added to the evening's amusement.
