FORECAST FOR OTAGO

MODERATE WINDS FROM THE NORTH The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office at Wellington:— Light to moderate north-east to north-west winds. Weather fair to fine, but cloud increasing in the west. Seas slight to moderate. DOMINION FORECAST COOL TEMPERATURES CONTINUE The following is the official weather forecast for the Dominion:— Pressure is high over the South Island, while a depression which is forming near Cape Maria is moving south-eastward on to the North Island. Indications are for: Winds.—Moderate to strong southerly to easterly, continuing in the central provinces, elsewhere moderate north-easterly changing to westerly later in the northern portion of the North Island. Seas.—New Zealand Waters. —Rather rough to rough, north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate southerly winds and moderate seas, but a change to freshening northerlies advancing across the southern portion. Weather. —Continuing fair over most of the South Island, becoming unsettled again over the North Island, with rain spreading from the north and possibly extending as far as Nelson and Marlborough, some heavy falls in the Auckland and Hawke's Bay provinces: cool temperatures. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN The sky was again overcast yesterday morning but a light north-east breeze cleared the sky and in the afternoon the weather was fine and sunny. The maximum temperature was 53 degrees, and the barometer, after falling in the morning was rising slightly at midnight at 30.15 inches (1021 millibars). The night was clear and cool.
