Stock Sale Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held the first sale of the season in their yards on Friday afternoon, when there was only a small yarding, which was quickly disposed of at satisfactory prices. The following are the details: One hundred and eight ewe lambs, 265; 34 ewe lambs, 245; 136 wether lambs, 16s lOd, 15 wether lambs, 13s 9d; 14 ewes, 10s; 1 cow In full milk, £9 15s; 1 cow In full milk, £9 7s 6d. Evacuation of Children There was a large attendance on Wednesday evening to consider a letter received from the Dunedin branch of the National Emergency Committee In reference to the billeting of children In the country districts in the event of it becoming necessary to evacuate them from Dunedin. The Mayor (Mr W. B. Naylor) was in the chair, and explained the reasons for calling the meeting. The following committee was elected to make the necessary arrangements and to meet the secretary of the Dunedin committee, who is expected to visit the district In the immediate future:—Messrs W. B Naylor (chairman), K. Rodger, C. W Kibblewhite, H. J. Hay, J. F. Harrison, Mesdames J. A. McDonald, W. R. Quin, E. Arnpld, Misses Hutton and Shearing. Letters from the St. John Ambulance Association and the Red Cross Society were also considered. Mrs W. R. Quin was authorised to call a meeting of women for the purpose of forming committees It was mentioned that the Girl Guides' Association had already made arrangements for the running of ambulance classes which will be held weekly. Personal Mr W. W. Hubbard, inspector of stock, has received notice of his transfer to Amberley, and will take up his duties there towards the end of the month. Dr Rippln and Nurse Haskins. of the Department of Health, paid an official visit to the local and district schools last week
