INTOXICATED MOTORISTS

TWO MEN SENT TO GAOL (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 19. Two motorists charged with intoxication while in charge of motor cars were sent to gaol by Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., to-day. Selwyn Wilson Notton. aged 32, a vulcaniser, was sentenced to 10 days’ imprisonment, with hard labour, and disqualified from having a licence for two years. The police said his car collided with a safety zone in Wellesley street last night. Joseph Roy Anderson, aged 42, a motor driver, was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, with hard labour, and was disqualified for 18 months, The police said he was travelling at 40 miles an hour on the new North road at 5 p.m. When he stopped in response to a traffic officer’s signal, he was found to be drunk.
