FORECAST FOR OTAGO MILD TEMPERATURES INDICATED The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was Issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office In Wellington:— Moderate to strong north to west winds. Rain at times in the west. Mainly fair in the cast, but with some showers possible. Moderate to mild temperatures. Seas moderate. DOMINION FORECAST MAINLY FAIR TO FINE The following Is the official weather forecast for the Dominion: — An extensive anti-cyclone Is situated in the north, while a series of westerly depressions is passing the south. Indications are for:— Winds.—South-westerly at first In North Auckland and north-easterly on the Canterbury coast; otherwise north-westerly prevailing; force strong at times about and south, of Cook strait, otherwise light to moderate. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rather rough to rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook Strait; slight or moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong westerly winds and rough seas in, the southern portion; moderate variable winds and slight seas In the northern portion. Weather:—Mainly fair to fine east of the ranges and in the north: elsewhere cloudy, with rain at times in Westland and the far south, and scattered falls possibly extending as far north as the King Country; temperatures moderate to mild. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN Though the sky was overcast yesterday morning, conditions were mild. There was a slight breeze from the north-east. The maximum temperature rose to 63 degrees during the sunny afternoon and the barometer was rising towards evening at 30.05 inches (1018 millibars). The conditions were dull with a moderate soul'h-south-west wind, the mum temperature being 59 degrees. The barometric pressure was fairly steady with the 5 p.m, reading 30.21 inches (1023 mllHbats). WELLINGTON, Sept. 19. The weather to-day was overcast, with a strong and squally north-west wind. Light rain fell between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The maximum temperature was 57.1 degrees. At 6 p.m. the barometer registered 1018 Sept. 19. To-day w’as very warm, with intermittent sunshine and a moderate northwest wind in the morning changing to north-east in the afternoon. A heavy shower fell about 5 p.m. The maximum temperature was 64.5 degrees. The barometer fell until 3 p.m.. when it rose sharply, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.01 inches.
