CENTENARY SKI MEETING PROMISES OF INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT (P;eb United Press Association) THE CHATEAU, Aug. 25. The holding of an international centenary ski meeting at Mount Cook m 1940 would be the. biggest undertaking of the Ski Council of the Federated Mountain Clubs, said the chairman (Mr R. Syme) at the annual meeting. The council had been given £l5O from the proceeds of the Grand Snorts Art Union _ for the meeting, and support had been promised by clubs in Great Britain.. Australia, and the United States. The Ski Club of India was interested, and the Canadian authorities proposed postponing their 1940 Empire Winter Games. So fsir, Mr Syme said, the council had had very, little encouragement from the tourist and other Government departments, and arrangements had been made for a deoutatipn to wait on the Ministers of Tourist Resorts. Internal Affairs, and Railways. The Idea was not only for a meeting at Mount Cook, but also for meetings at other Dominion resorts, The delegates from several clubs offered support.
