WINTER WOOL SALE
A SMALL CATALOGUE COMPETITION SATISFACTORY There was a total offering of 3170 bales at the winter wool sale held yesterday. There was a good attendance of overseas buyers, local mill representatives and fellmongers, and considering the grave international situation, competition exceeded expectations. However, it was noticeable that fine crutchings were slow selling, and passings for these grades were frequent. The quality and condition of the crutchings under offer were not up to the standard of last year’s, due to extreme weather conditions experienced. Crutchings and skirtings comprised the bulk of the catalogue, with some good average lines of fleece. As compared with northern sales prices were generally easier for crutchings. An extra super line' of four bales crossbred crutchings (suitable for the American trade) made Hid. Any fleece wool forward met excellent competition and values were Id to 2d better than the April rates. Official Range of Prices d. d.
