ARMY MEDICAL COURSE

CAMP AT BURNHAM LARGE DETACHMENT FROM DUNEDIN A large detachment of men from Dunedin will leave to-morrow to attend the annual army medical course of instruction at the Southern Military District School at Burnham. It Is anticipated that over 150 members of the Otago University Medical Company, N.Z.M.C., will be present. This will be the largest number of members of this unit to go into camp for some years. They will be joined at Burnham by 80 other ranks of the 3rd Field Ambulance. N.Z.M.C. (Christchurch). Almost 100 men from the Otago Regiment will also travel by the same train. They will undergo a course of Infantry and musketry -instruction. Sixty members of C Company, which is comprised of students at the Training College, are included in the draft from the Otago Regiment. The camp commandant will be Major S. M. Satterthwaite, and Captain A. P. McCormack will be adjutant to the course. Sergeant A. Staff (Dunedin) will accompany the southern party. The Christchurch party will be under the command of Staff Sergeant-major (W. 0.1.) T. F. S. Rudd. All ranks will parade in uniform at' the north end of the . Dunedin Railway Station at 11.15 a.m. on Saturday next and report to Staff-sergeant J. R. J. Kennedy. Undress uniform will be worn for travelling. This comprises hat, jacket, waist belt, slacks and black boots. N.C.O.’s will take with them the necessary manuals for the course, also note books and pencils. Corporals and those under that rank will be required to take knife, fork, spoon, two plates, mug and tea towel. A football match will be played against the Special Reserve, N.Z.R.. at Burnham, and all footballers are asked to take the necessary equipment with them. The medical course will be the most ambitious yet undertaken in the Southern Command, and it is expected that a large amount of new. ground will be covered by all ranks.
