Mr and Mrs Hart and Miss Cassie Hart left on Tuesday for Wellington.

The "little" lounge of the Otago Women's Club provided a cosy meeting place for the members of the Cecelia Choir when they held their annual party recently. The conductor (Miss Meda Paine), the secretary (Miss Mary Park) and the committee acted as hostesses for the evening, which was devoted to the playing of trump whist. The prize, a pretty brooch, was won by Mrs S. Duncan, while a "good luck " brooch to bring her better cards another night went to Miss Flo Davies. Those present included Mesdames C. Briggs, Whitworth, D. Skene, D. Anderson and Misses Phyllis Hawcridge. Olive Barth, Blanche Dempster, Thelma Gemmell, Cathie Hinchcliff. Nan McNie. J6y Maydoh, Thelma Paine. Alison Tyrie. The deans and professors of the University were "at home" in the Tudor Lounge of the Savoy recently in honour of Sir William Benham. The guests, who included members of the University staff and their wives, numbered 130, and were welcomed by Dr Carmalt Jones (in the absence of Professor A. R. Andrew) and Mrs Andrew, who wore a gown of black georgette with crystal ornaments. Two special guests were Mr Justice Smith and Mrs Smith, of Wellington. After congratulating Sir William Benham on the distinction bestowed upon him the gathering adjourned to the lounge, to be entertained with two brackets of songs sung enchantingly by Mrs Emma Oestreicher and a play arranged by Mr A. C. Stephens.
