DISPOSAL OF IMPORTS
GERMANY AND DOMINION PRODUCE AN UNLIKELY HAPPENING (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 23. Sales by Germany on the London market of New Zealand produce to build up German foreign exchange holdings are considered unlikely by the New Zealand Government. This is stated in a written answer given in the House of Representatives, today by the Acting Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) to a question by Mr D. C. Kidd (Opposition, Waitaki). "No sales of the sort have come to the Government's notice," the Minister said. "There is no specific provision under the trade agreement between New Zealand and Germany rendering it impossible for Germany to resnip and sell on the London market New Zealand produce imported into Germany in conformity with the agreement," the Minister said. "No instance of Germany selling on the London market a portion of New Zealand produce imported into Germany under the agreement has come under notice and such sales are considered to be most unlikely."
