FATAL BULLET WOUND
YOUNG MAN’S DEATH
The adjourned inquest on the body of Allen Young, a youth aged 16 years, who was found dead at his parents’ residence at Ravensbourne on Wednesday last with a bullet wound in his head, was concluded yesterday at the Courthouse. Mr H W. Bundle, S.M., ting as coroner Dr Porteous stated that when he visited the home of the deceased’s parents he found the deceased lying on his bed with a bullet wound in his head, and a 22 calibre rifle resting across his body. The shot had obviously been fired close range, and there was nothing to suggest that the wound was other than selfinflicted In witness’s opinion, death was caused by a fracture at the base of the skull and damage to the brain.
The coroner found that the deceased died from a fracture of the base of the skull and damage to the brain caused by a rifle bullet wound self-inflicted while he was in a state of extreme mental depression.
