LIBRARY CHARGES
TO THE EDITOR Sir,—l have read some letters protesting against a payment in the Public Library for certain books. Although it cannot be welcome to many, there is, some reason for the charge. .Salaries and other outlay may necessitate the charge, but I cannot think it just that the Athenaeum should make an extra charge for all notable books that are kept for subscribers who are; already oaving twenty-five shillings yearly. Either one must be deprived of reading books they wish or must take what they can get.—l am. etc.. Protest Dunedin, August 10.
