ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FALL FROM CYCLE MAN FATALLY INJURED (Per United Press Association) HAWERA, Aug. 10. Thomas Farrell, aged 38 and single, of Stratford, was killed at Stratford last night, when he fell from his cycle while riding downhill carrying an attache case. It appears that he freewheeled down a short hill and caught his knee when he resumed pedalling. This evidently jammed the handlebars, throwing him to the road. His head injuries, it is believed, caused almost instantaneous death. DRANK DISINFECTANT Alfred Barnett, an elderly man residing at 11 Baldwin street, North-East Valley, was admitted to Hospital at 6.45 last evening as a result of drinking disinfectant. His condition is not serious. DISLOCATED SHOULDER As a result of a fall at her home, 773 King street, Lillias McKellar, an elderly woman, was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 11 a.m. yesterday with a dislocated shoulder.
