CLAIM TO GIBRALTAR

SPANISH PRESS CAMPAIGN ITALIAN SUPPORT GIVEN LONDON, Aug. 3. Spain's claim to Gibraltar continues to be emphasised not only by the Spanish press, but by the Italian press, and by Spanish radio stations. The, Spanish press repeatedly declares'that Spain expects to retake Gibraltar, and that the problem will be settled satisfactorily. Indeed, it is being remarked that one cannot glance at the Spanish press on this subject without being struck by the similarity between the confidence with'which the Spanish press announces its belief that Gibraltar will return to Spain, and the oonfidence which the German press expresses over a satisfactory outcome of the Danzig problem. Typical Spanish phras-s are: " England's occupation of the Rock is a permanent offence to Spain." and "We are sure our soldiers will reach a satisfactory conclusion over Gibraltar." The attitude of the Italian press is seemingly summed up in a newspaper phrase: "The British flag over Gibraltar infuriates Spaniards." Observers believe that the campaign has all the marks of being carefully planned, and it is expected that it will be sustained at least for some time.
