STOPPAGE AT RENOWN MINE DISPUTE BETWEEN WORKERS (Per United Press Association* AUCKLAND, Aug. 9. Owing to a stop-work meeting to consider the dispute between two pairs of miners, no work was done at the Renown mine at Huntly to-day The meeting began before the men were to have begun work for the day but continued until 9.30 a.m., at which time the truckers decided that as they would not be paid for a full shift they would not begin work. The dispute between the miners concerned the distribution of skips in the mine. It reached an acute position, and it was decided to place the matter before a stop-work meeting. The truckers are paid 22 s 6d a day. whereas the miners are paid according to the coal they get out. The truckers to-day considered that they must lose part of their" nay through the delay, whereas the miners could by extra effort secure their full day's, wages. Consequently they did not begin work and the miners also had to return home It was stated that owing to the rush of orders the men would probably have been allowed to begin work after the meeting. The mine is expected to resume work to-morrow. The Glen Afton and Macdonald mines were working again to-day after two days' idleness. The men went back to work in accordance with yesterday's decision to continue, pending the carrying-out of negotiations regarding the dispute over the dismissal of an aged employee
