STORY OF A SPARROW

A man and a woman were very fond of birds and used to fed them regularly. Outside the door, .looking onithe garden, there was always a bowl of fresh wajer for the birds to drink. In .the hot summer afternoons the, woman and her husbarid- would sit'with the door open and throw-crumbs to. the birds, mostly sparrows, which became so tame 'that they would hop right into the room. One day she noticed a sparrow behaving in a very peculiar way; It had. hopped into the room, but it kept flying up towards her face. This became so persistent that tat last... she said, "I am sure the.sparrow:is trying to tell me something; go to the door and see if there is a cat about." Her husband went to the door, but he could see nothing until he looked at the bowl of water, and there was a baby sparrow, drowned.
