FACING A DILEMMA
NEW SOUTH WALES PREMIER EARMARKING OF TAXATION GOVERNMENT COMMITTED (United Press Association) 'By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, Aug. 9. The Sydney Morning Herald says the Ministers are convinced that the State Government, under Mr Mair's Premiership, is assured of a period of stability, and that Mr Spooner and his followers will not challenge the Ministry before Christmas. The Daily Telegraph says the Premier is faced with a dilemma. He has committed the Government to earmarking the whole of the wages and special income taxation for employment services, which means that he will have to find £ 2,500,000 to carry on other services which are now financed from the wages and special income taxation. These comprise family endowment, charitable relief, widows' pensions, relief to deserted wives, child maintenance, and miscellaneous services.
