THE WHITE CITY CONTESTS SEVERAL RECORDS BROKEN LONDON, Aug. 7. Sixteen nations were represented at the international athletic meeting at White City. Sixty thousand spectators were present. Following are the results: — 880 Yards.—C. Beetham. Time, lmin 52 3-10 sec. 100 Yards.—C. Jeffrey. Time, 9 3-ssec. 220 Yards.—Jeffrey. Time, 22 4-ssec. 440 Yards Hurdles.—R. Cochran. Time. 52 7-10 sec, a British record. Pole Vault.—G. Varoff, 13ft 6in. Weight Put.—B. Watson, 52ft Bina British record. High Jump.—L. Steers, 6ft 6in. Broad Jump.—Watson, 24ft 6in. All are of the United States. Mile.—D. Fell (Britain). Time, 4min 15 2-10 sec. Three Miles.—T. Maeki (Finland), 13min 59 2-ssec, a British record. 120 Yards Hurdles.—E. Lidman (Sweden). 14 2-ssec, equalling the British record. 440 Yards.—M. Lanzi (Italy), 47 3-ssec, equalling the British record.
