THE AXIS POWERS
APPROACH TO JAPAN A DECISION AWAITED OPINION IN TOKIO DIVIDED (United Press Association) <By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, Aug. 7. The Tokio correspondent of The Times says the Axis Powers are pressing for a decision, or at least a re-examination, with a view to revision, of the decision tacitly reached in June, when an active minority resented the majority's opposition to extension of Japan's European commitments. The British United Press Tokio correspondent says the emergency meeting of the Inner Cabinet tomorrow will discuss the army's position regarding European policy. Mr Yonai is understood to maintain the view that Japan should not ally herself to the Axis. The Left Wing Social Mass Party, however, passed a resolution in favour thereof.
