SOUTH OTAGO HOSPITALS
, MONTHLY BOARD MEETING. The monthly meeting of the South Otago Hospital Board was held at Balclutha yesterday. There were present: Messrs W. J. McKenzie (in the chair), D. McGregor, W. Sutherland. A. V. King. A. T. Harris. H. A. Brough. A. Rennie. J. Fenton. F. Waite. M.L.C.. and A. Renton. Finance Receipts amounted to £3607 0s 8d and expenditure to £1825 13s 3d. Sympathetic reference was made by the chairman to the loss suffered by the Southland Hospital Board through the recent fire and in the many consequent difficulties. Superintendent's Report The medical superintendent (Dr.D. G. Radcliffe) submitted the following report (comparative figures for last year being given in parentheses):— Balclutha.—Admissions 69 (73) discharges 61 (72). remaining 43 (57). Xray 14 (11). massage 28 (72) Milton.—Admissions 17 (20) discharges 14 (22). remaining 12 (8). Owaka.—Admissions 13 (/). discharges 9 (6). remaining 13 (5). Kaitangata.—Admissions 6 (5). discharges 4 (5). remaining 2 (10). The report was accepted. Correspondence Mr J. W. Hislop (Milton) wrote expressing appreciation of the kindness and attention extended to.him by the medical officers and nursing staff of the Balclutha Hospital during his recent illness.—Received. The director-general (Dr M. H. Watt) wrote advising that Ministerial approval had been given of the expenditure of £9IOO for additions to the nurses' home at the Balclutha Hospital.—Received.
