Jones) in reply to an urgent question asked by Mr R. McKeen (Govt, Wellington South), in the House of Representatives to-day. MrMcKeen* who drew the'Minister's attention to an article in the. press, in which it was stated that a syndicate, of stamp speculators proposed to purchase £SOOO Worth of these stamps when they were.issued pn August 29, asked that steps should be taken to prevent "this racketeering."' Mr Jones said that a "corner" in stamps would not be permitted. Good stocks of the stamps, were in hand, and further supplies could be obtained.
