"CORNER" IN STAMPS
WESTERN POSTAL AUTH6RITIES ALIVE TO SITUATION (From bun Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON,' An assurance that. the Post;.Ofpce authorities would not permit the "cornering " of the forthcoming issue, of commemorative stamps of Western Samoa was given by the Postmastergeneral (Mr F. Jones) in reply to an urgent question asked by Mr R. McKeen (Govt, Wellington South), in the House of Representatives to-day. MrMcKeen* who drew the'Minister's attention to an article in the. press, in which it was stated that a syndicate, of stamp speculators proposed to purchase £SOOO Worth of these stamps when they were.issued pn August 29, asked that steps should be taken to prevent "this racketeering."' Mr Jones said that a "corner" in stamps would not be permitted. Good stocks of the stamps, were in hand, and further supplies could be obtained.
