MONTHLY MEETING OF COMMITTEE
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Early Settlers* Association was held yesterday afternoon and "attended by Messrs W. J. Strong (president, in, the- chair)...E. iWebster, H. Baron, J. Hope, T. W, Knight, R. S. J. A. Macdonald, J. A. Paterson, A. E. Selby, W. H. Ferens, and W. R. Brugh. It was reported that the association's monthly old time dance held on August .2 was again a successful one. , . Milne, Mataura)— framed portraits of their late parents. Mr and Mrs Alexander Smith, One Tree Point, Southland; Three Bells, 1858. Robert J. Pope, Wellington—booklet. "Some New .Zealand Lyrics," written by himself; also three bound copies of New Zealand School Journals dated July, August, September, 1925, containing early Otago reminiscences written by himself. Martin F. Cock, Wellington—a two-dollar United States note, dated August 1, 1862, bearing the following endorsement: "Dunedin,New Zealand, Dec, 15, 1863--Paid Ten Shillings Stg... H.. H. Moody.". Mrs R. Leigh, Geelong, Victoria (per A. J. Evans, Dunedin)—collection of photos of early Dunedin. From members, of the family—framed portrait of their late father, D. Thompson, Dunedin; arrived 1860's. The following deaths 'were recorded during the month:—Thomas B. Fairbairn, Waitati (78), St. Vincent. 1865; David Burnett. Mosgiel (89), Jura, 1862; A. Ross Sutherland, Mansford Town, Port Chalmers' (77), Nelson, 1862; Miss Mary Park, Dunedin (83), Alpine, 1859; George Mcintosh, Taieri Mouth (86), arrived 1864; W. L. Craig, Maori Hill (89), Maori. 1857; Daniel Berry, Dunedin (82), arrived 1861. One early settler was enrolled during the month, viz., John F. Botting, Dunedin, s.s. Alhambra, 1866. The following descendants were enrolled during the month: —Mrs W. Keillor (nee McKay), Dunedin; father, Gloucester, 1858. Miss M. Kellas, Dunedin; mother, Gala, 18(54. Arthur Collins, Dunedin; great grandfather, ar r rived 1850's. Mrs C. Hughes (nee Burns) and Mrs A. Riach (nee Burns), Dunedin; grandmother. Magnet, 1840. Mrs H. Logie, Wellington; grandfather.
