William Howard, a former member of the Marine Union, testified that Harry Bridges boasted of his Communist membership in 1936. He also alleged that Bridges packed the union meeting with Communist '•' stooges or sympathisers." A letter written to the Lewis Committee of the Industrial Organisation was read into the record .to-day. It alleged that Bridges not only was a Communist but placed Communists in key positions in the Pacific coast unions.
