TO PULL STRING
GQLF CLUB USED FATAL GUNSHOT WOUND How a man used a golf club to shoot himself was explained at the inquest at Letch worth, Hertfordshire, on William S. L. Mackintosh, aged 03, a sales director, of South View, Letchworth. who was found dead at his home. Dr W. Hector told the coroner that a blood-stained golf club was found on the floor near Mj Mackintosh, and the slipper was missing from Mr Mackintosh's left foot, as though he had tried to work the trigger of the gun with his toes. He was a stout man, however, and apparently failed, and afterwards used the golf club to pull a piece of string which was attached to the trigger. Dr A. Anderson gave evidence that three years ago Mr Mackintosh suffered from heart trouble. He was called to see him recently, when he seemed aggressive and moody, and said that doctors could do nothing for him. The doctor added that he had suggested thht Mr Mackintosh should give up work and rest for a few months. He had agreed to do that on the morning of his death, but he (the doctor) bad since found out he had made no arrangements. A verdict of suicide while the balance of mind was disturbed was recorded.
