" Domestic,” Roxburgh.—A domestic servant is not entitled to an annual holiday on full pay. In common law a worker or an employer is bound to give one week’s notice terminating service. “ Inquirer,’’ Central Otago.—A man working on a farm is entitled to an annual holiday on money wages paid. If his engagement is terminated before 12 months he is entitled to proportionate holidays on pay. " Perplexed,” Balclutha.—’The whole circumstances should be communicated to the Income Tax Inspector. You will then be advised regarding the whole matter. “ Cinders," Balclutha.—The rate per day as provided under the Social Security Act is 12s 6d. Some maternity hospitals working under the Act have a higher scale of charges, and it may be assumed that the sum of £1 12s 6d represents the excess of those charges above the social security allowance. "Waterproofing,” Waiwera South—(l) We understand there is a proprietary line on the market for preserving apd waterproofing jute, the price being approximately 25s per gallon. (2) A general answer could not be given. Much would depend on the horse, and even more on the river. It is not safe to ride some horses in a river, and it is generally unwise to ride in the stirrups.
