ANNUAL MEETING IN LONDON RECORD OF CONTINUED PROGRESS (From Our Own Correspondent! LONDON June 8. “The mission is unique. There are many other missions in various parts of the world, but 1 doubt whether others are quite the same as the Melanesian,” said the Rt. Rev Bishop Kempthorne, formerly Bishop at Lichfield, at the annual meeting at Caxton Hall, Westminster, this week. “ The history of the mission has been one of continued progress,” he said. “We have had good bishops all the way along. We have had our martyrs, it is true. To-day we are signally fortunate in our present bishop, who is the right man in the right place.” He also referred to the valuable work done for the mission by Bishop Selwyn. and his system of training native workers in New Zealand, bishop Kempthorne mentioned that there had been a great increase in the number of native workers in the mission, whose work was proving mosl successful Addresses were also given by the Rev C. V. Longden (New Guinea Territory), Sister Amy Thompson, who is on furlough from Kumbun in the New Guinea Territory, and the Rev. R, E. Tempest, formerly missionary in South and North Melanesia, and Warden at Siota Theological College.
