WRESTLING

JONES BEATS DONOVAN (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, July 12 Paul Jones to-night beat Jack Donovan by one fall in a professional wrestling match before a full house. Plenty of showmanship was seen in the bout, but there was a good deal of solid and clever wrestling as well. Jones took his fall in the fifth round with his own specialty hold, a hook scissors,: COX DEFEATS BOESCH (Per United Press Association) HASTINGS, July 12. In a bout marked by solid wrestling “ King Kong ” Cox (list) defeated Paul Boesch Cl6st 41b) with the only fall secured in a contest at Hastings tonight. Cox, who secured the fall with a Boston crab in the Sixth round, was cautioned by the police for not breaking. The bout was devoid of spectacular incidents, although Cox’s “ bad man ” tactics provided entertaining interludes.

FORSTER TO MEET BLOMFIELD

Ignacio Martinez, who was to have wrestled Lofty Blomfleld on Monday night, will be unable to fulfil the engagement, owing to an injury received fn his match against McCready. some three weeks ago. It was anticipated that he would have recovered by this time, but his medical adviser will not permit him to engage in any contest for at least* another 10 days. Blomfleld will now be matched against the South African Frank Forster, who represented the Transvaal in Rugby football. Forster made a favourable impression in his New Zealand debut in Wellington when Blomfleld was awarded the decision by a narrow margin of points Forster was nominated by McCreadv as the best Empire “prospect’ he had encountered since leaving New .Zealand, and Forster had the distinction of being the only man who prevented McCready from defeating him Now that he is aware of the local regula tions he will be in a much more advantageous position than he was in Wellington, and the fact that both Blomfleld and Forster are challengers for Mc€lready’s British Empire title should add Interest to their meeting. Further particulars are advertised.
