WOMEN MUSICIANS MEET

PROGRAMME BY JUNIOR COMMITTEE At the meeting of the Society of Women Musicians on Monday evening a programme, “Music of the Seasons." was presented by the Junior Committee. In the absence of the president (Mrs Campbell) the meeting was opened by Miss Ada Sinclair. Miss Alice Wilson, in presenting the programme, said that no composer could escape from the influence of nature, and that music so influenced could, in the hands of the masters, give to the listener a vivid and emotional picture of thoughts generated by the changing cycle of the seasons; without such inspiration the mechanical corpse of composition .would be a lifeless robot Before each season was presented Miss Wilson read a set of verses to introduce the prevailing mood. After the performance Miss Mary Martin proposed a vote of thanks to the Junior Committee for their work in organising a well-balanced programme.
