ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
BRIGADE NOTES
The divisional superintendent has been given permission to convene a meeting at Clydeyale in order to discuss the formation of a division there. Arrangements were also made for a demonstration team to visit Clydevale on the same night and to give a display of first aid and stretcher drill. The division is fortunate this year by reason of its greatly increased membership, which now numbers 40 Divisional Surgeon Frengley conducts weekly lectures on first aid and aloo gives valued advice in connection with practical work. A pleasing feature this year is the keenness of new members. Recently four members were on duty at Rugny matches in the district. This attention is much appreciated by the players of all teams. ' •
Hillside Ambulance Division
The fortnightly meeting of the Hillside Division was held recently, when Superintendent J. Penson presided over a good attendance of members After the general business had been attended to, Private W. Coward gave a very interesting report on the activities of the Brigade Social Committee From the report this committee is making splendid advancement.
The results of the first aid and improvising competitions were as follows: —W. W Burridge, 74J points, 1; A. R. McEwan, 72J points. 2; J. Penson. 70i points, 3. This division wishes to extend its thanks to District Officer A G A Swanson and Corps Officer D. S. Maclean, who devoted their time ably in judging the above competition. At the conclusion of the meeting the assistant commissioner, Mr W D Pirrett, addressed the members on the first lecture in regard to the A.R.P course: this lecture proved to be very intexesting. Dunedin Nursing Division
The weekly meeting of the Dunedin Nursing Division was held at headquarters recently. Lady Divisional Superintendent ,E, Steedman presiding over a good attendance of members. Several new members have ioined the division. Members have combined with the North-East Valley Nursing Division for lectures recently and twc lectures have been given by Dr J Fulton. They have also had the pleasure of listening to lectures given by District Officer A. G A. Swanson and Divisional Superintendent C Hayward Members continue to take their share of public duties, and several cases have been treated. Members are also assisting with the various classes which are being conducted by the St. John Ambulance School of Instruction.
Examination Results
Dr Clarke Hanan recently conducted an examination in home nursing for the class which has been held at Caversharn, and the following gained their certificates:—Mesdames M Garden E. M. Hanvey. M. Wyllie. Misses H, Alexander, A. Morwood, R. Thornicroft, R. McFarlane, J. McNeill, and A. Tate.
