ANDERSON’S BAY CLUB

The annual meeting of the Anderson’s Bay Bowling Club was held on Thursday evening last, when there was a good attendance of members. The chairman (Mr William Lishner), presenting the annual report and balance sheet, congratulated the club on the very satisfactory state of the finances, and made reference to the improvements in the pavilion and the purchase of the billiard table. He also complimented the green supervisor and the greenkeeper on the excellent state of the green and the grounds. The following officers were elected:— President Mr T. Ashton; vice-presi-dent, Mr Alex. Williamson: Management Committee—Messrs Marshall, King. Petrie, Forrester and S. V. Wilson; secretary, Mr B. C. Abernethy; assistant secretary, Mr S. V. Wilson: delegates to centre, Messrs A. Robertson and J. Campbell: selector, Mr G. R Henderson; Match Committee, Messrs J. Campbell and A. Williamson; green supervisor. Mr G Pearce; auditor Mr A. Walker. A Social Committee and a Billiards Committee were also elected, Mr J. Brooks being elected selector for billiards.

It was decided to enter, if possible, five sections in the Saturday competition, and that the club enter for the Adess Shield and the Four-rink Competition as formerly. With regard to the various remits before the meeting, it was decided to support the centre’s recommendation that the four-rink games be played on Monday evenings, or on Wendesday should the weather prevent play on Monday. The Leith Club’s remit that no fewer than 12 matches be played on Saturdays was supported Balmacewen’s remit with regard to the closing date of entries for the Saturday competition was not approved, but the same club's remit that a New Year tournament be held was supported after considerable discussion.

The leads and seconds’ tournament caused some discussion, and it was finally decided to recommend that, in lieu of the present tournament, a novices’ tournament be held, a novice to be defined as one who has not played bowls for more than four years.
