has. some decided ▼lews about the value of wool for clothing, and its merits are being continually publicised and debated. A few years! ago.the New Zealand Wool Manufacturers' Research Association was formed to. meet the demand in this Dominion; for scientific investigation of the problems involved. The headquarters of the research staff is located at the University of Otagp, where the vork is carried out bv Dr S Townend, textile research officer, and his associates. This research activity is directed by Dr F. G. Soper, professor of chemistry, who will give a public lecture on Tuesday evening to the Royal Society of New Zealand (Otago branch) on r ' Wool Textile Ref search." Some of the new treatments which are being given to wool will be described—for example, treatments to increase its softness and wearing Qualities and to render it water-proof and moth-proof. Specimens to illustrate these new developments win be exhibited. Details of the lecture are announced elsewhere.
